last update | next update
Demi is 57, Jeff is 55, Philip & Phoebe are 16
(Vance & Vincent are 17, Crystal is 17, Charlotte 16, Cheyenne is 1, Miles & Roland are 25, Tessa is 26, Jade is 23, Margaret is 24)
Narrated by Demi.
I’ve always been told I am the perfect picture of the perfect wife and mother. I keep a very clean and organized home. I juggled work with soccer and ballet practices and games for years. I’ve made 3 meals a day for my family each and every day ever since I had a family to make them for.
Being the perfect wife and mother just isn’t enough sometimes. Every family has their issues, I know that. But my family has a lot of them these days. My daughter’s wedding was cancelled at the last minute because the groom was caught kissing my son’s fiancee. How does a perfect wife and mother deal with that?
She keeps right on going, that’s how. She continues to work on her career, take her kids to soccer and ballet practice and games, cook 3 meals a day…every day. If she can keep things as normal as possible for her kids, then she’s doing a perfect job.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t do it all by myself. Jeff is a wonderful husband and he tries to help out as much as he can. But right now he is super busy with work and his studies. He’s currently in year 3 of his 4 year doctorate of Science program. So he spends a lot of time studying.
And even though my older kids are all caught up in this web of infidelity and lies, I still have my husband and two younger children to care for. Somebody’s got to keep things around here as normal and as stable as possible for them.
And then another bomb fell. My youngest son, Philip, announced that he is gay. We definitely didn’t see this coming, and I’m not quite sure how to handle this news.
Phoebe said that she has known for awhile now, but that it was Philip’s place to tell us. Jeff put on a brave face, but I could tell that he was really upset. Philip is our only son that has his last name of Go, so I think Jeff is disappointed that there may not be anyone to carry on the family name now that Philip is gay.
I’m not really sure how I feel about this. I’ve tried so hard to keep everything together for this family, and it just feels like I’m not doing as well as everyone thinks.
But Philip is our son, and of course we love him no matter what. And it’s still a possibility that Philip could have children one day to pass on the Go name. So Jeff and I have been trying to look on the positive side about this whole thing.
And then we found out that Philip is already seeing someone. Well, they’re not really dating, but I’m pretty sure they’re headed that way. Vincent Linwood is his name and he lives just next door to us.
Philip has always been friends with Vincent and his brother Vance. But it’s been only recently that I’ve noticed a change in their behavior. There is definite flirting going on there. I wonder if I should have a talk with Vincent’s mother? I’m not sure she even knows about this…
Phoebe really approves of Vincent. She says he’s a nice guy and in her 16 year old world Vincent is very mature since he’s 17 years old.
His brother, Vance, on the other hand is most definitely not mature! He’s constantly pulling pranks and practical jokes…even on Jeff. Needless to say, Jeff and I are very happy that Philip is interested in Vincent and not Vance!
Poor Vincent just wants to impress us since he likes our son, and he is totally mortified each time his brother plays a joke on us. Philip just thinks it is hilarious, but Jeff is seriously thinking of banning Vance from our home!
And then there’s Phoebe. She’s about as normal as a teenage girl can be. She recently got her driver’s license, so now she has a lot more freedom to hang out with her friends.
Her friends are really good girls. Crystal Landgraab is the daughter of my good friend Malcolm, and we’ve always been close to the Landgraabs. Charlotte Cox is a sweet girl too, but she is related to Samuel Cox who broke my other daughter’s heart.
It was Charlotte’s brother, Samuel, who was engaged to be married to my oldest daughter Tessa. She broke off the engagement after Samuel was caught kissing my son’s fiancee…at my other son’s wedding to be exact! I’m not sure how Phoebe and Charlotte have been able to continue their friendship when their families practically hate each other.
But they have. They’re very good friends and I am glad that Phoebe is able to be unaffected by this drama.
Phoebe’s other best friend, Crystal Landgraab, is also tied up in all this mess. Crystal is the younger sister of the girl whom my daughter’s ex-fiance kissed. In other words, she’s the one who kissed my daughter’s fiance and caused the break up. But Crystal and Phoebe have been able to stay friends in spite of the messy situation their families are in.
And that makes me happy. I can’t help the pain that Tessa is feeling, but I can try to shield my other kids from that same feeling.
And all of this while working a full time job! I am a scientist at the Fortune Shores Laboratories and I work some pretty late hours. I will probably retire in a few years, but for now we need the money and I enjoy getting out of the house and taking my mind off of the tangled web of love affairs going on in my family!
Jeff has also been working really hard, and he recently got word that he has been accepted as a Science Teacher at Fortune Shores Public High School! That means a raise and a normal work schedule, so we were very happy about that.
And this raise came just in time for the Christmas holidays. We were able to buy the kids lots of presents, and we had the whole family over for Christmas dinner.
All of my children came over and of course my little granddaughter came too. Cheyenne just turned a year old last month and she is just as cute as can be!
We don’t get to see a whole lot of our only grandchild since she lives with her parents in downtown Fortune City. So I really cherish my time with her when I get it. I’m also hoping for more grandchildren sometime soon!
But we couldn’t even get away from the drama on Christmas Day. Miles is still dating Jade O’Malley, even though she kissed his sister’s fiance and broke up their relationship. In fact, Miles even told us that he and Jade are engaged once again. They’re set to be married in September of next year. You could feel the tension in the air.
Poor Tessa was so angry that he would bring her over to our family holiday. I could hear her venting to Margaret and I’m pretty sure everyone else could hear her too.
But Tessa and my son Roland just couldn’t seem to put their anger aside for the evening and have some fun with their family. It was putting everybody on edge, so I had to take them aside and have a talk. Jade is engaged to their brother, so that means she is going to be a part of our family soon enough. Because of that, we have to find a way to let her in.
They knew that I was right, but they wanted Miles to be aware of the feelings that Jade brings up in our family. So we sat down with Miles and had another talk.
Tessa told Miles how she felt and that she would never be able to be friends with Jade. But she promised to be civil with her at family functions. Miles tried to apologize to Tessa for how hurt she was, but that Jade wasn’t the one responsible for that. I don’t think any of us at the table bought that, but at least I was fairly sure that we were not going to have a food fight on our hands at dinnertime.
Tessa has a long way to go to get over this whole business with Samuel and Jade. I’m not sure that she’ll ever be on friendly terms with Jade or that she will ever accept her into our family. But I know that she can be the bigger person and put on a brave face for her brother and for her family.
The rest of the evening went well. Poor Philip was coming down with some sort of flu and spent most of the time in bed. I think he passed the flu on to Jeff and I, but luckily we were still feeling good on Christmas.
And Phoebe had a great time playing with Cheyenne. It warmed my heart to see my family finally smiling and having a good time, especially the kids. I guess there’s still hope for our happy, normal family after all.

Extras:
Just a quick funny pic or two. During their talk, Miles confessed that he is very attracted to his brother’s wife. (A whopping 3 bolts to be exact!)
His brother was shocked…and very unhappy to hear this!

Family Photos:
More family photo’s to get you acquainted with who is who in town! This is Jeff and Demi Go, they’ve been married for 16 years. Jeff is actually Demi’s second husband. She married elder CAS sim, Howard Berkley, at the beginning of the hood.
This is Jeff and Demi and their kids. The sims with black hair (Tessa, Roland, and Miles) are Demi’s kids from her first marriage to Howard Berkley. The red hair teenagers (Philip and Phoebe) are Demi’s kids with Jeff.
Demi’s son, Roland, is married to former waitress-townie Margaret. They have a 1 year old daughter whom you’ve met before, named Cheyenne. She is Demi and Jeff’s only grandchild so far, so she is very spoiled!
And this is the whole gang, including Miles’ fiancee, Jade O’Malley. So Demi and Jeff have 5 children, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 almost-daughter-in-law, and 1 grandchild.

Notes:
- Sorry this update was so long! I didn’t realize it until I was editing the pics. I tried to cut it down some, but I guess I just love this family so much!
- Demi is my absolute favorite sim in Fortune Shores. She always has been and I really don’t know why. She’s just so motherly and wholesome and friendly.
- The whole Tessa-Samuel-Jade-Miles situation even has my head spinning sometimes. So don’t feel bad if you are completely lost! Tessa and Samuel were engaged. Miles and Jade were engaged. At Roland’s wedding, Samuel kissed Jade. Tessa and Samuel broke up, while Miles and Jade have stayed together. That’s about as simple as I can explain it!
- Abigail Linwood has now passed the flu on to every household I have played since she came down with it in the first Uni update. She passed it on to every member of her dorm, she brought it home and gave it to all of the Linwoods at Thanksgiving, and then Vincent brought it over and gave it to Philip Go, who then gave it to Jeff and Demi! That is one contagious flu!
I can’t believe that he’s still going to marry Jade, yikes, I wouldn’t marry her at all.
I’m with Starr, couldn’t do it. Trust is so fragile in relationships and once it’s broken, it’ll never be the same again. I like Demi too, she seems like a very sweet sim. And I giggled a little at Vance’s antics 🙂
Man, this family has certainly had its fair share of drama of late! It’s pretty big of Tessa to agree to be civil with Jade, for the family’s sake.
Phoebe is just the perfect mix of both parents, isn’t she? Her dad’s colouring and nose (and maybe eyes?) and her mother’s mouth and general face shape.
Love the family portraits too! I should remember to do those when I do Christmas with my Sims.
Starr, I probably wouldn’t marry Jade either if I were him, but those two are each other’s highest attraction and they didn’t even get mad at each other over the whole kiss thing. So maybe Jade is telling the truth and Samuel kissed her unexpectedly? Even I don’t know! Lol.
Mizzgin, Miles was never mad at Jade, so I’m choosing to interpret that as Jade was innocent in the whole thing and Samuel just kissed her unexpectedly. Not sure if that’s what really happened since Jade and Samuel did have a short fling in college that was definitely two-sided, but Miles must believe that she is innocent, because his relationship with her never changed!
Carla, The Go/Berkley family is definitely in the middle of a lot of drama right now! It’s got to be hard for Tessa to be forced to be with Jade so much, but she is going to be family, so it’s a futile effort to fight her! I thought the same thing about Phoebe when I saw her standing with her parents. She is the perfect mix, you’re so right! Definitely Demi’s mouth and Jeff’s nose, but I almost think she has Demi’s eyes…I can’t really tell. But she is one of my prettiest sims I think! And these family portraits are really fun. And they give me some great shots to put on their walls in their homes! I didn’t do pictures for their walls when I used to play and all of my old pictures are edited with names on them, so I can’t really make any old pictures into wall hangings. So I’m having to start over with them!
Thanks for reading all!
Yikes. I can imagine how hard this situation is for Demi. You don’t want to look like you’re siding with one child over another in these things, but with all the hurt feelings, it has to be difficult to keep things civil.
LOL, I think Miles should have kept that information to himself in the extra pics. Roland doesn’t look too happy! 😉
Wow I hope the wedding goes well after all that. I absolutely can see why you like Demi, I really like Tessa too. And oh man if Margaret and their little girl Cheyenne aren’t the cutest, I don’t know what is! Love that she’s the only grandchild, and thereby quite spoiled. I really like that this is a blended family, their family portrait looks so picture perfect really. I think it’s funny that Demi’s workout fit has a handprint over her boob, what the heck kind of placement is that EA? I’ve never noticed that (or never had a girl sim make it that far in this career… hmm). And Crystal is really pretty! You have such pretty girls born in your game.
Wow, this family sure had some drama going on!
It’s understandle that Tessa wasn’t too happy to see Jade after everything that had happened, but I’m glad she tries to be civil for her brother.
I don’t understand that Miles is still planning on marrying Jade, after all that happened!
